Well My SS is in the collision repair shop. I was ran off the road by some idiot on a cell phone that apparently does not think they have to stop at red lights. I didn't hit the car but slammed against the curb really messing up my front end. I hit it very hard and my car instantly was near impossible to control and the HUD said to service my ESC. I didn't see any body damage but I can only imagine what I broke in the front drivetrain of my car.

It really annoys me because I constantly see people not paying attention while talking on their phones for miles. It is why they make these laws to ban cell phones while driving. I mean the car was a newer BMW so I am sure it has some bluetooth handsfree built in. Now my car has to suffer because of that person's idiotic driving and decision making.

I hope I get my car back soon because the rental I got sucks. The only cool thing about it is the push button/keyless start. But it has no power and when it gets about 70MPH it handles like crap.

Phones should be banned in cars, period!

 

Sorry to hear about your car and glad your not injured but people need to stay off the phones while driving. I've had close calls myself from people talking on the cells.

 

Been there and done that myself.

The idiot on the phone truned in front of me while doing 50 MPH+ and I had to run it off the road. At least the others on the scene kept him there till the cops got there. I was lucky other than a bumper cover, intercooler , seat belts and air bag I got off easy. If I had hit him I would hated to have seen the results.

They can make all the laws they want on banning phones etc in the car but the only way to solve this issue is to remove the idiots. The problem is there are so many of them anymore.

My theory has always been the world has gotten worse and dumber when we created seat belt laws, Helmet laws and air bags. These things are now saving the people that are too stupid to live. Before we culled the heard. LOL! I say this as a joke but the truth is what used to kill the stupid is happen less and less anymore. Now they are taking the rest of us out.

Be glad the air bag did not come out. Mine came out but I did not hit it but it hit me. I was burned pretty good and cut up both arms from the steering wheel cover. My sunglasses ended up in the back of the SS.

I know it would have helped if I had hit something but the folding of my bumper under and poping back out set it off. I was almost stopped. It was kind of like getting sucker punmched and then hit with boiling water. Man it hurt.

 

That's why I dispise BMW's, Mercedez, Lexus, Porsches. They think they own the dang road, and don't give a darn about other drivers... Because yes, most of the time, they are being chatty Kathys and not paying attention to the road. And they figure if they have a car that nice, they can pay anyone off including the police if something happens.

However it's only a matter of time before some self serving politician will put forth a bill to ban them completely!

Back in the 70S Illinois had a bill requiring seat belts on motorcycles! It didn't pass, but just the fact the bill was even considered illustrates just how stupid politicians truly are!

That's spot on as well! My route is in one of the 'higher class' communities and it's really a shame that they can afford those wonderful cars but have no idea how to drive them! BMW drivers are the worst of the bunch!

Here in CA we have laws banning cell phone and texting, but I think I see people blatantly do it more now then before we had the laws.

oh well ...

 

I live in a huge college town, and not to be mysoginist, but I see girls all the time making up the road as they go, with one hand on the stick shift, one on the phone, and they use their knee to drive. Oh and they love to tailgate, cut you off, and give you a piece of mind when you do the same to them.

At the beginning of the semester, I pulled into a spot, only to have a girl start cussing me out for taking her spot (faculty lot, she was a student). I just kind of ignored it while getting my stuff out of the SS. Well, she sped off, only to run into me again about 15 minutes later in my class! She appologized over, and over, and over. (Membership has its prividlges) Now if I could just get the rest of 'em in there.

 

I see just as many people in crap cars doing the cell phone dance.

They guy who ran me off was in a Mitsubishi Galant. It would be fair to say there are some right here that are guilty of this same action. Yes I have seen HHR owners try to dial and drive.

They can make laws all they want......the trick is to enforce them.

 

If you see a car being driven eratically, the person is either drunk, or more likely on the phone. Every time I see a car swerving around, I pass them to just to be able to see that they are on the phone, usually driving with one hand and the other hand keeping the phone plastered to their ear. C'mon - how hard is it to go wireless these days?
