SS Check In

2009 HHR SS
Color: Black
Transmission: 5 speed manual
Location: Chapel Hill, NC
New to the HHR and this forum, only an SS have I been fortunate enough to possess in my past. I picked up my gem last Friday with 36 miles on her, 30 of which I added during my (one & only) test drive. Bottom line, with exception of 6 miles, each and every time that odometer spins it's a damn good feeling those are miles only of my own. I've been beside myself with enjoyment ever since adding her to the family; no thanks to "cash to clunkers", I might add. I'm a sponge for HHR info and have questions galore, but as I've previously mentioned I don't wanna be that guy who's too wet behind the ears. I'm grateful of whatever you are kind enough to share, whether that's knowledge or simply a good laugh...For starters, if anyone can point me in the direction of where I could find some quality layovers for the bowties I'd really appreciate it. That said, any resources, links that might gleam some mods. If there are any cheaper mods, $200 or less, you could suggest I'd really like to hear what you have to offer. I look forward to being an active member on these boards, I was so stoked when I found the site a couple weeks ago. Thanks for taking the time to read through this post and hitting me off with some information. Knowledge is power and I like to go fast.
Be easy.

2009 HHR SS
Color: Victory Red
Tranny: Manual
Location: High Bridge, NJ
Bought it off a lot in PA to save $$$...best thing about buying in PA is that the front bumper wasn't drilled out for a plate, so I didn't mount my front plate (illegal in NJ, but not really enforced). It all happened very quickly, so I didn't do as much research as usual...if I had I would have waited for an SS with Brembos. I do like the RPD and upgraded sound though.

SS - Black, 5-speed, Performance Pkg., AA5, Pioneer Stereo (but threw away the paper speakers, replaced with Infinity Reference).
Delivered on 4/30/09; 15,000 miles so far.
I'm impressed by the fuel economy (27-30 mpg), the speed (118 mph is the fastest I've traveled), the comfort (performance seats are excellent on long trips), the handling (as if on rails).
To date, the only service issues I've had have been a rattle underneath (loose e-brake cable), and a continuing problem with the USB connection to my Ipod Touch. There's a TSB issued for this, but no solution thus far. Also, in a very short time, I have worn a hole in the carpet to the left of the clutch pedal. I haven't addressed this issue with the dealer yet. I'll be interested to see the outcome of this.
I intend to get 150,000+ from this most excellent vehicle before I replace it.
This is the first Chevy I've ever purchased new, and I am very, very impressed with the build quality, body integrity, and overall performance.
