Question SS passenger seat arm rest

Some time ago (05/08) Jookster126 posted a thread showing part #'s and pics of the arm rest items needed. My question for Jookster126 ( or anybody else who has installed the arm rest) - are there any special tips I should know about before attempting this addition? I am mechanical enough to be dangerous and would like to install the arm rest myself. One question that comes to mind is: How do you get the old plasctic cover off without destroying it? I printed Jookster's post with the pics & part #'s. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a million!!

There is a post on here regarding the removal of the plastic cover.

https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/show...t=17403&page=2

look at the post by dpoll995 he gives a description there there used to be pictures but for some reason they have been removed.

When it comes time to install the bolt and washers (assuming you got the GM "Spacers") it goes #1 Bolt, #2 Wave Washer, #3 Flat Washer, #4 Plastic Split Washer, #5 Arm Rest, and all of that gets attached to the bracket once it is installed on the seat.

The wave washer uses friction to tighten and loosen the bolt as the arm rest goes up and down. If anyone just got flat washers form their local hardware store and are having problems with the arm rest staying tight this may be why plus jooksers original post showed pictures of the parts which looked like there were 3 flat washers, this is not the case one was the wave washer I mentioned earlier and the other is actually a nylon spacer, Esentually a plastic flat washer with a shallow sholder and a split. so there is acutally only 1 item in his parts list you would easily be able to pick up at a local hardware store.

Hope the information helps.

Thanks so much! This should do it. I'll get the parts ordered from the dealer soon. I may be asking for more help later. Thanks again!! Tom
