SS Rear bumper protector?

On a new 09 SS I saw on the lot today, there was a rear bumper protector listed on the window sticker. The car did not have one mounted, however there was a box in the back, as if it was a dealer mounted accessory, but with a parts department hand written order paper on it, as if the factory forgot to include it with the car. The interesting part is though, that the part number on that handwritten parts dept tag was the same as the 06-08 standard HHR protector. (which I bought, and have, but didn't install cause it just doesn't fit the HHR SS bumper very well). I figure the dealer ordered the wrong one when the car didn't show up with it.
Anybody have an 09 SS with a factory protector installed, and if so, how does it look?

I ordered one from the dealer and installed it myself (to make sure it was done right). Piece of cake, and it looks cool.

Red face As far as I know,

There is no protector for the SS. I did install the regular (stock) HHR protector on mine. I have a partial pic in my gallery. I just tried to center it as best as I could. I'm in Texas right now on my laptop, so am not sure how to transfer pics from the gallery.

If you use the stock protector you may want to add 1-2 more strip of mouting tape on top of the supplied tape.

The standard HHR has a grove in the bumper the SS dose not have. The extra tape builds up the level keep the edge from digging in.

just view your pic, scroll down to where it says BB image code: and copy/paste that line into your message like this:

Pappa smurf, the SS I saw had it listed on the window sticker, so I am thinking that they have created a version for the SS specific. Surely they could do better than the standard HHR one, as it doesn't fit as well as it could, or should.

I saw a rear bumper protector listed on the order screen as a dealer installed option when I was placing my SS order. I got the roof cross rails but held off on the protector as I heard here it wasn't SS specific and may have fit issues. But looking at pappa_smurfs installation, the standard one doesn't look bad and maybe the extra mounting material is just the ticket here. I don't want a "naked" bumper and have no problems modifying the standard protector if I know it will stay put and looks like it belongs there.

Then again, it would be nice to know if an SS specific one has now been released. Maybe ChevyMgr can check the parts database and see if two p/n's exist for this piece?

Second to last option at the bottom - (DIO) Rear Bumper Protector $66

I would also like to know if an SS specific one has been released as I would purchase it now.

After looking at your find all those options are just HHR and not SS specific.

We have no chrome for black chome and we already have spoilers.

I would expect one for the SS may be available someday along with splash guards.

But as of yet non are made form what is shown.

I have the standard one ready to go on but will wait till spring. I even have the extra tape on it to keep it from rubbing.
