SS Rear Bumper Protector

SS Rear Bumper Protector
I plan on using the rear hatch area to haul stuff in the SS. Loading and unloading will tend to scratch the top of the rear bumper. I noticed that there is a bumper protector available, but it says that it is not for SS models. I guess the bumpers and ground effects make it different. Is there a bumper protector available for the SS, does anybody have a link?

There is a factory cover listed now but it is the same one that they used on the LS or LT. I saw them listed on the sticker but they are no different than the normal one we have seen before. I did this before 2010 and GM offered them as an option. I used more tape to make it sit higher as the one on the LT and LS use the ridge in the bumper to sit over.
I put one on mine and it helps but you still have enough bumper sticking out to catch.
You might consider having a shop put the 3M film on that they use for the clear bra'a. They or even you can get a piece and cut it to cover the top as it is not really a complex shape. They are easy to install and durable.

I have one on my SS and it looks just like Gasman's, no surprise there. I purchased it with the car new and had loading/unloading my 90# dog with his claws in mind when I did it. What I did to supplement it was to take an old bath towel and keep it folded under the removable floor in the back. When it's time to haul the dog or my F-I-L's wheelchair, I simply take out the towel, open it up, drape it over the rear bumper and place it under the floor panel and then snap the floor panel back in place. Works like a champ to prevent scratches and nicks. However, if you are planning to SLIDE heavy stuff over the bumper, you would need to do something else. As long as you only use it to protect and not slide stuff on, the towel works fine, and it's real cheap! Alternatively, you could flip the carpet mat over to have the rubber side up and simply pull it out over the bumper. The carpet will slide easily back in with your stuff and that will definitely protect the bumper. The photo's show you what I'm talking about. Hope these give you some ideas. Good Luck.

It covers the part you DON'T scratch, and breaks up the styling in the back. I ran one for a week, then ditched it. I load bikes in my car all the time. I have a thick black comforter a bike lays down on. For loading, I pull the end of the comforter down over the bumper, slide the bike in, then fold the end up over the bike, which now provides a soft cushion between the bike and the inside of the hatch.
