SS's 5th gear rpm at 60 mph?

My SS hasn't came in yet, I am wondering what the rpm is at 60 mph in 5th gear? Thanks

On order, manual, red, black/red interior, sport seat, 6CD, premium speakers. Can't wait.

Not sure I haven't really noticed but it's pretty close to 3k at 80 mph.

I asked member Ween a few weeks ago to do a test for me he came back with 67 MPH @ 2500 RPM.

Hard to tell exactly, but the tach reading is about 2300 rpm at 60 mph in 5th and you are on the border of lugging the engine. And at 55 mph my reading is slightly better MPG on level ground in 4th gear rather than 5th (about 34 MPG).

Here are the RPMs and MPH as I calculate them for the MT5, based on gear ratios, final drive ratio, and tire circumference. I ordered mine from the factory last week , so I probably won't be able to do any real-world verification for at least a couple of months to see if they're right. I'm living vicariously through these forums in the mean time.

Unfortunately I can't seem to figure out how to properly format the plain text. I tried fixed-width font but I think HTML is screwing it up. Sorry it's hard to read.

RPM 1,000 1,500 2,000 2,500 3,000 3,500 4,000 4,500 5,000 5,500 6,000 6,200
1st 6 8 11 14 17 20 23 25 28 31 34 35
2nd 11 16 22 27 33 38 43 49 54 60 65 67
3rd 16 24 32 40 49 57 65 73 81 89 97 100
4th 21 32 43 54 64 75 86 96 107 118 129 133
5th 27 41 55 68 82 95 109 123 136 150 164 169

Let me know if any of these seem wrong.

Thanks guys, especially Nebulous1, that took a good bit of work. Can't wait for my Ss to be built.

They seem wrong to me. Doesn't look very probable that you would be going 169 mph at only about 4000 rpm

The formatting is throwing things off. 169 MPH is the last number in the 5th gear column, which I figured at 6,200 RPM (though the redline is actually a little higher). However, I heard it is limited to 155 MPH Not sure if that's due to OEM tire ratings or it's as fast as that little turbocharged 2-liter will pull it or maybe something else entirely.

4000 RPM in 5th on the chart is 109 MPH. I couldn't figure out a way to do tab formatting on this message board. Even fixed-width fonts still move around, which I assume is an HTML thing. I'd post an image of the spreadsheet, but I don't seem to have permission to post an attachment, probably cuz I'm a new member.

The 169 is the 12th entry in the speed line. If you look at the 12th entry in the rpm line you get 6200 rpm, so 169 at 6200 rpm in 5th gear.

Thanks for clearing that up. Looks much more accurate now.
Is the gearing the same in non-SS 5 speeds? Because at 2000 rpm I'm running right at 55 mph.
