What if you get a second computer for your ss and put a tune on it.

Then if there is a problem put the original back in for warranty work.

Since it does not appear that GM is going to finish the GM Warranty Tune

yes no

How easy is it to swap out computers? What will the swapping affect? Doesn't that record info such as odometer reading?

You might hang in there a little longer. I am hearing that GM is going to release a Stage1 and 2 performance kits for the SS by years end. They should not effect your warranty. G.B.

is this a viable option?
will they be able to tell this has been done?
what are the downsides?

changing the ecu should not be that difficult.

Not a bad idea, but what about the odometer issue?
What makes you feel GM will never finish their tune? I was at my local dealer, and they are thinking next month maybe....

from what i have read odometer is not related to the ecu.

all of the forums and post i have read said that GM was working on one but funding was cut and there is no idea when if ever a gm tune will be available.

no idea if that is the case or no just exploring other options
i want to do something but i want to keep the warranty also.

PCM is a quick physical swap. Based on other vehicles, I would imagine a "relearn" is then required... don't know the procedure, but could be similar to other GM vehicles, which is a sequence of key on - key off moves that takes 15-20 minutes to do. However, since this PCM is Bosch... which is new for GM, who knows what, if any process is required. Having said that... it absolutely MUST be swappable or the car would have to be thrown away if the PCM died.
