Thinking of purchasing a HHR SS..
PS-2010 model year
Am I going to regret this purchase? Seems like the turbos have a lot of issues. Is that true? Be as honest as you can. I love the car. I rented an HHR LT by accident (only car available) when I was out of town. Loved it. Then saw the SS. Nice. But have read a lot of complaints about it. Will I have to work on it every weekend? Are parts avaiable?
Thanks for any advice you can give me.

I don't think you will. I have had less issues than my previous 06 LS. Ecotec got a good little turbo engine going, they even use it in their Buick's. My turbo is stock, but maybe some of the guys with the Stage 1 could say more. Definitely recommended.

Parts...
How about parts? I hear there is a plastic part that fails and is hard to find. I thought car mfg's had to make parts for 5 years after stoppin production on a vehicle.
Thanks for the info Tyler

Thanks again. I will try and find the thread on this. It is a platic part that connects to or from the turbo that fails. One guy had to wait 45 days for the part. Unless I am misunderstanding. Do you know if I can just get an aftermarket turbo and remove the stock? Would assume so.

2010 Chevrolet HHR SS 4dr Wagon (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 5M)
Review
I have had 5 HHR's since 2006 (love the car), two turbos out of the 5. Never had a problem with any (not even a water leak or radio problem)except for this 2010. A piece of tubing connected to the turbo holds 20 pounds of pressure and was made out of plastic that failed. The Chevy dealer cannot find the part nationwide even with GM help. My question is what about contacting the assembly plant for a part or have one fabricated? Dealer stated GM will not let them fabricate a part, so I have been without my 600 mile 2010 car for over a week. The only thing Ford, GM or others understand is a lawyer. Did get a loaner car after 5 days with GM help.

That review sounds like someone with a blown upper charge pipe. Yes they are plastic and a very small number have failed. If it was me, I would just replace it with a better aftermarket unit that is available.
(plus, that review seems as though it's at least 4 years ago based on the mileage)
My 2010 is 4 years old with 37k miles and a few mods including the GMTU(Stage 1). Zero problems on mine.

I love mine. I haven't had any maintenance issues at all on mine, and I haven't exactly been gentle with it. I'm tuned at 23psi with several other performance upgrades. I make regular trips to the drag strip. For what it's worth, I still have the factory upper charge pipe. So charge pipe failure can't be that common of an issue.
