The first time I hit 120mph it was on stretch of I43 where there are usually no cops, however it was raining and so once i hit 120 i let off of the gas. I know going in the rain is stupid, but I will say this little car has good handling.

Ya I hit 125 w/ mine before backing off to take an exit. I was going up a big bridge on I43 here in Green bay. Here is a couple pics of the bridge one and then this one shows the upward angle a little better. I had to slow down as soon as I hit the top cuz my exit was at the base. The car was not even struggling. I have a hard time going this fast and have only done it on these 2 occasions (don't flame me), because we have lots of deer, I dont need a ticket, and not having traffic all make finding a spot almost impossible

edit: I don't have the stage 1 kit yet, but I don't like the idea of it having governor. Can anyone else confirm or deny this?

It is governed at 155mph. A long trek on a nice straight road in the Snadhills of Nebraska where they do that LEGAL Snadhills all out race yielded a nice 130 for me. Then my butt puckered!! LOL Surprisingly stable yet I am a wussy with no roll cage!! My buddies mustang hit well over that... jerk :)

I remember reading somewhere that if you put the auto tranny in "I" it will defeat the governor, but you dont have top gear either. Is that true?

I have had mine over 140. I did not have my gps in the car so I am not sure when it stopped pulling. I was racing an evo and not willing to loose. We were door to door though 130 and I started to pull at that point.

I have been to 140 + also but to acheive best top speed you have to get up early in the am, I get best top speeds about 6 am or sunrise, the air is cool and still, aero is what prevents you from going much faster than 150, go to utube and there is a video of the pres of gm claming this car has a top speed of 150 or 155, I do know gm clocked it at 150 at nuremburg.

our ss is a auto, our speedometer goes to 220 kph have had the car to its max on the speedometer, well my hubby has, that would scare me to be driving that speed, scares me enough to be a passenger lol. I suppose next time he wants to play he could switch it over to mph and see.

I believe MOST stock vehicle (of any brand) governors are set according to the speed rating of the OEM tires. Therefore, LS or LT's are most likely governorned to 118 MPH, as they have 'T' speed rating. The SS has a 'W' speed rating or 168 MPH. That being the case, the 150-155 limitations are probably aero issues. I believe that setting governors to OEM tire speed ratings would be for liability factors.

I've had mine to 140 mph and the speedo is right on with HP-Tuners. I did a datalog pull with it to check things out. didn't have the boost up, and in 5th gear was only seeing 15psi or so of boost, with out any KR and the timing was way down, so when i finally buy the credits for it, i am going to bump up the timing.

BTW the throttle position sensor at idle is showing 24 % and at WOT it was only @ 84%... don't know why
