Turbo may be shot

I had an issue a few weeks back see this thread:

https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/ss-specific-service-issues-repairs-61/dejon-powerhouse-wastegate-spring-30606/

Thursday last week with the car completely returned to stock stage 1, I was home for lunch. I went out to the SS to go back to work and upon start up the car sounded strange. No CEL no drivability issues for a few blocks. I was stopped at a red light and when it turned green I started to accelerate and the turbo spooled up and the car stalled. I re-started the car and accelerated slowely from the light. Car seemed fine and then I accelerated again and when the turbo spooled up the car fell flat on its face and stalled again. CEL came on and had no power at all. I limped to work and parked the car. I called the dealer and made an appointment. After work I drove the car home still CEL and no power. Friday morning I limped to the dealer, but about a mile from the dealership the CEL turned off and I had boost again, but the turbo sounded like crap(grinding noise). I am in a rental and the service writer called me a few hours later stating that the tech drove it and was able to get the CEL and the no boost to occur again. Tech told the service writer that he thinks the turbo bearings are shot or that the waste gate was bad and he will be taking the car home over the weekend to data log the problem. The SW said that odds are I will be getting a new turbo and that he will call me monday with an update. The CEL's were mis-fire cylinder 3, turbo overboost, wastegate stuck.

I will update as I get more info from the dealer.

That sucks.... But do you think the culprit is the spring tailings?

since this is not the first turbo to go could just be bad manufacture.

Really not sure if the spring is the culprit, but it would be one heck of a coincidence if it wasn't.

update 1

Got a call from the SW yesterday pm stating that besides the one time they cannot reproduce the problem. They asked my permission to allow the service manager to take my car home so he can data-log it. Haven't heard back yet today.

Will update as I learn more.

Sounds to me that they just want to drive your HHR.
