Update 2

Just got another call from the SW.

Car is throwing a trouble code for "low turbo oil pressure". GM Engineering has now gotten involved and wants the service dept to rule out the electrical system before proceeding with any parts replacement. They are gonna keep and drive the car tonight. I will be picking up the car in the AM with the instructions to drive the car for a few weeks with the "data-logger" onboard. Apparently they mount a red button on the dash that you push every time it does anything out of the ordinary and it will log all the parameters that occur during the issues.

To me it sounds like a blown turbo or a failure of the turbo system and GM trying to avoid the costly replacement turbo. We shall see!

Just a side note: When the car was nearly new the Turbo coolant bypass blew. I am wondering if the turbo overheated a few times back then leading to premature failure of the turbo now. Any thoughts?

Could be, but my Mom has worked at this dealership for years so I do trust them, and if they wanted to drive it all they would have to do is ask.

Well, I took your car home and it seems you have a low blinker fluid level. I put 90W oil in there and it helped out but didn't solve the problem. So on top of the blinker fluid, I used Mop and Glow on the carpet and it is running like a champ. On a side note, I did lube your brake pads so there is less friction which means the car will top out at 165 now.

Did you add any stickers that increase the top end speed?

They added a NOS and a K&N sticker which added several hundred hp and about 75mph to the top speed.

Update 3!

I went and picked up the car about an hour ago. They put about 300 miles on it trying to get it to reproduce that problem and of course nada.

I have the data-logger in my cup holder now and about 3 miles from the dealership same issue. No power/boost and grinding noise is back WTF!!!!!

I logged the problem with the data logger by pushing the big red easy button each time I tried to accelerate and have a call into the dealership to schedule me bringing it back in. Only difference is that I have no CEL this time around.

I have some experience with the no-boost situation, but probably for different causes. Anyway, it may not have set the CEL but it probably did store a code. It takes something like 3 separate occasions of the problem to set the CEL, or at least it did with my car. Are you sure the dealer is driving it in such a way to cause the problem to happen(like beating the crap out of it ) I had that problem when they were diagnosing the issue too. If you weren't driving the car hard, it would not set the code.

Things got much better once I convinced the service writer to let me talk directly to the mechanic. Once I went on a ride with the mechanic and explained what he had to do to get the car to act up, he saw the problem and they ultimately were able to fix it.

join the club... when I had mine in for boost issues they put over 300 miles on it and couldn't get it to duplicate the problem

your issue sounds different, mine ended up being a cracked wastegate actuator... another dealer ended up replacing the entire turbo, because the actuator is on perpetual back order...

too bad the turbo isn't on back-order.... you could ask for a new car.
