Changing gears into 5th gear you have to pull up on the handle and its hard to get into 5th gear as well

I dont have a SS, so I usually just skip passed this duscussion topic area...

but boy am I glad i read this one...

the sunvisors slide on the shaft so if you have the visor to the side window, you get full coverage?...have to check that out.

the steering wheel radio controls have a "seek" if you hold the UP or DOWN arrow down for a brief moment?...also have to check that out.

as for the SS...so far, most of the complaints i have read, apply to ALL HHR's...the seat controls being close to the door, the cup holders(two small holes somwehere down there), the cave-like feel(I love it now)...etc.

I dont own a SS...but the only thing I dont like, is the front bumper fascia. it is too large for this style of vehicle. Granted, it draws in alot of needed air, but it has that "body of a wanna be race car"(aka RICER) look to it. I am sure once I drove one, I'd get over it real quick...but I really dont care for that giant protruding bumper. My opinion, which is only usefull to me....but you asked

A good case of form follows function . I think it looks more aggressive and as a SS it should. I like the bumpers without the pad protrusions on the original.

I too am a firm believer in form follows function, 7 days a week. Looks bad, works good...then it stays.

I've seen a couple of comments about the cupholders. Are they different than the two in the 07 LS HHR I am renting now? Because they don't do a bad job, if you consider just how bad some car's holders are, like the second one on a Rainier, the front left on on a Trailblazer, ect.

I've never had to pull up on the handle. Only do that when shifting into reverse. 5th is a little stiff but I have found that it is getting better as I rack up the miles. I've also found that giving it a little rev while shifting helps it fall into gear easier.

You dont need to pull up on the slider for 5th gear just for reverse. I have less that 1000 miles and gears feel fine with no resistance. I have noticed that it almost wants to jump to neutral out of 3rd, but has never actually done it. Just seems like it comes out of 3rd easier than any other gear.

no...they're just in an awkward spot...down low, hard to reach, and easy to have a cup lean towards the driver's seat thus leaving a coffee stain if the lid has a sippy-hole.

cup holders are actually a priority to many people. My Lincoln has 1. yes 1. It is well-placed, and holds A cup very well. whoever is riding shotgun is left with the lap-splashes...

But in a car like the HHR, I understand space, and design is very important. if you're a smoker, you are screwed, or you adapt.

Another bad thing. Wife loves it. She's making excuses to steal it now...and like me, she looks forward going to work...because it feels like a shorter commute now. Damn this chevy.
