I'm guessing that I wont be getting that. When I ordered it, my dealer offered to sell it to me at invoice and let me keep the incentives (of which I knew there wouldnt be any). Does anyone have any suggestions for getting the price down even further? I also want the ipod adapter, so im gonna push for inclusion of that.

Just to throw in my 2 cents worth. I think that with a brand new model with fairly high demand vs supply, it is reasonable for dealers to ask for and get full list. I would never pay over list, and our local dealer has never charged anybody over list, even when other dealers were for vehicles like Corvette "Pace Cars". Bottom line, if you want a better deal, or more options, be patient.

well the dealer doesnt HAVE to give you ANY discounts. However, that attitude is thankfully dwindling, most are happy to get the sale, and don't care about sitting on a car for an extra month to make a few extra thousand on it. Especially w/ GM discount, GM pays them when they sell a car to an employee.

Well, I realize that they dont have to give me the best deal ever and make no money on it. What I guess im asking, is I know if they sell the car within so many days of receiving it, they get a certain amount from GM. Where else do they make money. Where can I ask for discounts or comps. Maybe i'm asking what revenue streams they have on a car sell and which they generally are willing to reduce or give up.

I negotiated $300 over invoice but then they threw in the ' $400 advertising fee' that is supposedly standard from GM. I stopped by yesterday and we looked at the rebates currently out there for the HHR, which were $1000 for an LS and $1500 for an LT. He wasn't sure whether the 1500 would apply to the SS but is supposed to get back to me. The alternative was 3.9 for 3 yr, 4.9 for 4yr and 5.9 for 5. We'll see....
