Who hasn't brought their SS back to the dealer yet?
#33
not really
only been back once and that was to get the ECM hold-down adjusted, other than the mix up I had when first delivered, remember the running board on the driver's side from the factory?
I also have that "squeak" underneath the SS over certain bumps.
Will be a year April 1, now have 17,000 plus miles.....runs great

Well hello to everyone. I just reg. on this site to see what everyones been doing to these HHR's. I didn't know I was going to see myself or our dealership being slammed.
Im the tech who just installed this upgrade kit. I was actually impressed with the perf. gain. I even made an effort to talk with you as you were leaving as I wanted to know more about your car (ie I asked about how you liked your brake kit).. I'm sorry you felt you were over charged but as we had explained shop rate is $106.32 hr. And that this type of job isn't in a flag rate job its a "straight time" meaning we charge from start to finish. Myself and ur service advisor went over this with both you and your gf prior to you making your appt.
Your kit was 3.6hrs which is sensors, rewired, heated, wrapped and new tubing installed with phone time dealing with TAC to get the correct reflash calibration (which lagged). And a short .18 test drive to make sure no codes were set.
This was exactly the case. Thank you.. The next kit will def. go faster. the 1st time always takes longer, sadly.... With experience comes faster installs..
Why do you think nobody wanted to commit to a price??? And 1 of 3 dealers?? There is Honda,Toyota and Chevy.....I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have been willing to perform this upgrade. When I talked with you, you said you didn't have the ability to perform this type of install. We were happy to help you and we did so in half a days time. And it was done CORRECTLY the 1st time. Ive been reading stories about some of you guys having issues and having to go back several times to get it done correctly...
I didn't join this site to argue over this. I came to see what all everyone was doing with their HHR's. And being 1 of the dealers perf's. minded techs ( I keep up on the aftermarket info both on cars and truck and I love modding cars and trucks mine included close to 500HP and 1000tq Dodge Diesel) I feel I'm very competent. Your kit was installed as if it was on my own truck. Please look and see for yourself. Some people feel very strongly about that type of work and actually appericiate it.
Please come back and see us/me, I'd love to try to make this better for you as you are important to us as a customer. We know customers have more than one choice of where they can have service done. Keeping customers happy is key. And I'm not just blowin smoke at you.

well mine just went to the dealership for the last time. it was only it's second time, too. first time was an oil change, this time was to get my Stage 1 kit installed. now that they've charged me $400 F***ING DOLLARS to install it, they'll never see me again!!!
anyone know of a way to register a complaint with GM about a specific dealership? when GM themselves say something should take an hour to install, and it takes the incompetent fools at a dealership 4 HOURS...SOMETHING needs to happen!!

And you didn't have to get it installed there. You could have gotten quotes from other dealerships. Just because GM says what it "should" cost, doesn't mean that's what they have to charge. It was probably the techs first time doing a kit, so he was learning as he went.

fair enough, but still. i called all the dealerships within about 1 1/2 hours of me, and no one wanted to commit on a price or number of hours for the job. i don't have the time available to go a few hours away and give up my car for a few hours to have it installed, i work too much for that, so my only choice was one of 3 local dealerships, none of which wanted to work with me. i can understand the tech just learning, but i've read on here about several dealerships, their first time installing only taking 2-2.5 hours. even one of the first dealerships to install one only took 2.5 hours of actual work time, and that was along with another 2.5 hours of phone time trying to find out what was wrong (before the service bulletins about the difference in wiring and the sensor clearancing). i printed out copies of all the bulletins to go along with the instructions and gave all of it to them, so they had all the info, and it still took 4 hours, even with all the info right in front of them.

Welcome to the site.
What you have done is pretty stand-up BTW, giving your side of the story, good, bad or indifferent along with your invitation to make it better"Please come back and see us/me, I'd love to try to make this better for you as you are important to us as a customer. You might want to consider starting a thread in the 2.0 Performance section with this explination as well as just an FYI.

DrLoch,
I could start another thread but I just wanted to let him know I'd like to help him. I feel he will see this thread. I don't want to come off like I'm following him around the net trying to cause problems. He'll read this thread and thats fine with me.

After installing this kit you guys will be like "its no big deal". It really isn't that bad, taking a little extra time during the 1st install will save you more time in the end... The next kit will def. go faster for both your guys and myself.haha

We need people who are in the trenches, so to speak, that can provide informative information. You have, thanks
Let us know how fast the next one goes and if you have found any other information that is not quite correct so we can pass it on to the next tech who is trying to do an install.

well...i kinda did make an ass of myself, didn't i. Dan (callmed), first off, man, i want to appologize. i was eager to get the kit installed, and i saw most everyone on here getting them installed all over the place for $100-150, and seeing a final bill of $400, i'm sure anyone would be a bit tweaked at those circumstances. my biggest mistake was reacting with VERY little sleep, having worked all night, and just without even trying to see things from your side. again, i really am sorry for my reaction. do i wish it could have come out cheaper? of course, but i suppose that's what happens when i'm the "guinnea pig". and to my community here on the forums, don't string me up lol. i have calmed down now, rested plenty since then, and realize i did not handle the situation properly.
now, for a couple clarifications. 1, the "1 of 3 dealerships" remark was meaning Home Motors in SM and Rio Vista in Buellton. no way would i expect Honda or Toyota to install my kit...they woulda had the car all week lol. 2, i did not say i couldn't perform the upgrade myself, i just didn't want to, because the whole reason i chose this upgrade vs a few of the other tunes was i wanted to keep my warranty, and i'm not going to expect GM to honor the warranty if i'm the one working on it. how ar they to know if i know what i'm doing? if i were to touch two wires together, fry something, and then tow it in and expect warranty to cover it, i'd be out of my mind. my own mistake caused the issue, not their trained techs. that is why i chose not to install myself. just explaining some comments so everyone else knows what was meant.
so...on a lighter note. i'm assuming you found our nice little community via my back window? lol
