Why the SS Badges?

Was out on Woodward tonight checkin out the awesome cars before tomorrows official cruise date, guy stopped and asked me why would I put "SS" badges on my car. I told I didn't, GM did. He told me no way, they didn't make an SS HHR. I just told him, "you need to go home and google it".

Funny how people are unaware of the GM installed SS emblems today and in the 60's many removed them to catch people unaware.

My 68 originally had it's emblems removed so the owner could street race with 307 emblems over the 396 one's.

Today no one understands GM issued the emblems and that the 2.0 can out run many of the old BBC that carried the same emblems.

I know what I have and I could care less if anyone else does. It is fun though to open the hood and show the Turbo. Most are shocked. Give em a ride and they are stunned.

I'm glad that GM badged the HHR-SS, with the SS emblems. It's one of the few cars they have produced that deserves the SS emblems. Sets it apart from some [read most] of the utility vehicles, both American and Euro, out there.
Most people around here, can't identify with the SS, but that said, mine draws more attention that any of the many cars I've owned over the years[most all were tricked out, a lot]. A lot of the "heavy hitter" car guys I know and do work for, are noticing the SS now. They are impressed with the look that I ended up with, and after a little test ride, they are real impressed with the torque, and accelration, from the little four banger motor.
I personally like for people to see the SS emblems and the crossed flags on ole "4 Play", Lets them know, it ain't your grandmaws grocery getter, and means business.
Just when people are finding about the HHR-SS, GM pulls the plug. They could have sold more, if they had been smart.
Thats my story, and I'm sticking to it. "Moon"

I had that once too when I first got mine in 2008 the first year they were made. Guy down the block has a red LT2 HHR and saw me outside one day washing the car and he asked where I got the aftermarket rims and SS Badges from. I told him they came with the car. Then when I told him it was turbo charged he about flipped his lid.

I have had a few buds tell me to strip all my badges... but I like my SS badges. Hell I paid $4k extra for the badges and they thru in the turbo for free.
