Excellent submission
Thanks for this excellent post, it saved me a bunch of $$ and was very easy to do.
Background: 2006 LT - I was getting the TC and engine light both on. The ODB scan came back as "P0014 Exhaust Camshaft Position Timing - Over-Advanced (Bank 1)". I replaced the exhaust solenoid and everything worked great.
Update: The updated part number for the camshaft exhaust solenoid from Chevy is now 12646784. I bought one today from the dealer here in AZ - $54 (w/tax).
Thanks again for everyone's post.

Kellypmk1 - glad it worked out for you. Yeah you got the updated part number. Here is a recap of the codes/cause and the part numbers from post 133 on page 14 of this posting:
Quick recap:
This thread addresses the occurrances of hard shifting/Traction Control light lit/CEL codes p0010/11/13 and/or p0014 in 2.4 L as well as in the later 2.2 L with VVT in the 2009s onward.
P0010/11 refers to the INTAKE solenoid
P0013/14 refers to the EXHAUST solenoid
The GM part numbers are as follows for the camshaft position actuator solenoids:
-------- Original-----Updated a month or two ago
Exhaust 12628348 = 12646784
Intake 12628347 = 12646783
Prices are ~$50 ea. or less it seems (down in USA - ~double that in Canada!!)

I'd stick with the ones from GM - dealer, or the online GM parts list (can't remember the link right now). I think someone picked up up some from Autozone or such, but I'd stick with the genuine GM ones.

I bought the exhaust solenoid at the dealer - $50+ here in the states and no waiting for shipping. Most of the online places were roughly the same price. If you can't get to the dealer you might have luck with this site: http://www.gmpartsdirect.com

Thank you Whopper for the great how to!!! I did mine in about 15mins and everything went well. Still have the trans hard shift into 2nd but i think i have tranny problems cause it surges when cruising also. But my CEL is out so its all good! Thank you.

Ahhh still hard shifting - disconnect the battery in the trunk for 5 minutes - it likely will reset things. Remember to disconnect the NEGATIVE side only! Din't want to risk a massive short by disconnecting the positive post.
Let me know if the reset clears the hard shifting.
Surging when on cruise control hummmm it must be driven electrically as opposed to the old vacuum operated ones. Does your tach jump around or is it steady?

yea i disconnected the neg. cable while i did the job and still have the problem....the CEL is off now so it did the job. It surges when cruising but i havent tried using cruise control and yes i can see the tach jumping aswell. My father bought it new and after i sold my 06 i bought the 08 off of him. Its done this before and they replaced the torque converter and now its doing this again.....im just hesitant to go to the dealer again cause the one we have down here is HORRIBLE!!
