So I've read 90% of this and haven't found my answer. I have a p0016 and a p0017 cel and my rpd isnt readong info for the cam phasers. I've replaced the cam sensor but still have both codes I'm also going good to replace the crank sensor being that it's only 35 dollars. If this does not fix my issue does anyone else have any ideas on where to go next. Yes I know this thread is for the solenoids but everything on this forum has lead me here so I figured this is where I'd post.

P0016 means the timing chain, or guides, or tensioner is probably toast.

You do know that just replacing the crank sensor will cause another code, right; it needs to be relearned using a scantool like a Tech2.

x2 what Donbrew said - I'd almost like to remove all the references in this thread to p0016, so it stuck to just P0010/11 & P0013/14, but it would mess up the continuity pretty bad.

Yes I know that and I have the ability to do the relearn.

Ive checked my timing components and everything seems normal also I have zero noise coming from my timing components which ive had go bad on previous lnfs so I know the sounds to listen for.

So if it's not the sensor I'm pretty lost as far as where to go next. The only thing I can think of is a reluctor wheel on one of the cams is out of alighntment. No idea how it would've happen but you never know.

Shane , have you double checked all connectors and pins for looseness or damage?

I have checked the cam position but not the crank yet that's on today's agenda. I feel like it almost has to be that sensor. The cel came on on startup one day after and the rpd isn't displaying info. I feel like if it wasn't a sensor that the rpd would still display the phasers position instead I just get the big Ole error message.

I was getting the 13/14 codes and ordered up the exhaust side solenoid. Cleared the codes and reset the battery so now to see if that resolved the issue.

I broke the air box grommets though (Dry rotted) I reinstalled everything but the box is kind of loose. I may see about getting a zzp intake or something instead lol

Great write up. Yesterday evening my CEL came on in my 2011 2.2 and this morning I went to advanced auto parts to get the code scanned. The scanner found 2 codes both read P0011. There was some text on the scanner screen that read "over advanced timing" which would be explained by the trifecta tune I installed about 4 months ago. I did not see if it registered any of the solenoids going bad. The car doesn't seem to be running any different than normal, but I'm going to order up both solenoids to see if that takes care of it.

Keep us posted on the results if you can, including the part numbers if possible (so we can keep the list of P/N's current).

I may be the first to have the pleasure of doing this repair for a second time. Yup, 3.5 years after replacing both solenoids I've had the TC light, hard shifting and CEL come back. Code P0011. Actually, the TC and hard shifting happened sporadically a few times over the last several weeks but now it happened several times over the weekend, finally enough times to pop the CEL too. I guess even the new part numbers don't necessarily mean it will last forever LOL. In all honesty though for me 3.5 years is about 90,000 miles so I shouldn't complain. Its a MUCH easier fix than, say, the Impala radiator I did last weekend... That thing took me all day.

Time for a parts order!
