Glad you got it to work Mark!
Now I can order the parts and add thid to my interior elect. to-do list. (still haven't gotten around to back-lighting the window switches, got the parts last summer!)

I had not done this mod as of my post. [no parts yet] but I did ck all of the steps in fastsuv post the night that he posted, said yes this is a snap. then when you said it did not work I went all over it again! and it had to work cause thats just what the factory did in o7s they just don;t tap in to A10 they go to A2 and it ties in to A10 inside of BCM. The BCM & ECM most always controls the ground to a circuit.

I'm glad it finally worked for someone other than me! I had gone over the instructions, wiring diagrams, and my setup many times and was wondering if I had done some step differently or had different connection points than I indicated. Now I can rest and move on to the next project (heated mirrors eventually).

Did the mod yesterday and it works great. One of the little things that nobody in the world would notice except another HHR Car Crazy guy (or gal).
While I was at it, I checked my radio connections-using an aftermarket head with the Metra adapter. Have had alternator whine that was driving me crazy. (I grounded the radio and did not think I would have to ground the other thin wire off the adapter.) I just grounded that wire and - you guessed it-no more noise. Then, I decided on running a separate switch for my inside-mount AM/FM antenna. Since I generally listen to Sirius, I dont really need the antenna turned on all of the time. And it actually gets great reception with no power going to it, anyhow.
So I am extra happy now with my 3 mods/repairs/upgrades.
