How-to install 3 bar TMAP sensors - SS - alternative way
This is not about the upper sensor, that one is a slam dunk.
This is an alternative way to install the lower Bosch 3-bar TMAP sensor.
We've read about shimming out the intercooler, and that may work.
I trimmed the nub off my new lower sensor, and got it installed, got the intake manifold installed, connected the charge pipe to the throttle body. The sensor was almost touching the AC compressor already, there wasn't even room to plug in the connector.
I also read that it could be turned 180*, but it looked like it would get into the fan. You'd also have to completely grind or otherwise remove the anti-rotation bar from the charge pipe.
This was much easier. I simply eyeballed how far I could rotate it, and still be able to get a screw into the flat part of the charge pipe. Then I removed just a tiny bit of the anti-rotation bar. I then predrilled a hole for a 1" long screw, and installed the sensor.
The extra screws are just plugging the existing holes.
I'll edit this after I measure, to see how far the engine would have to move to hit it.
EDIT: There is at least 3/4" clearance. I wouldn't think that the engine will rotate much, I have all the TTR mounts installed. I still have the option to shim the intercooler, in my back pocket. It would have been hard into the AC without this 45* rotation of the sensor.

Can’t you just reach up from under it and push it in? When my daily was still on the stock cold side charge pipe, I think I plugged the one screw hole first, then jammed the sensor in from the bottom and tightened it from the top
