Too bad they source the power steering motors from Denso, a subsidiary of Toyota. But in the United States, to dis an Asian mfg is like dissing a Catholic Nun. Modern Americans will piss on their own shoes any chance they get.

Power Steering motor

Well that was the easiest 35 minutes I have spent fixing any car. The replacement motor literally fit like a glove, and after a test drive, all seems ok. I would think that GM would recall this based solely on the ease of the repair.

Power Steering Motor replacement. GM has a special bulletin out in Canada, so I am sure in US too, The Bulletin # is 10413. The dealer couldn't find it but when I contacted GM they found it no problem. They replaced the motor as a recall.

must be waiting till 2014 for all the HHR's to be out of the 3 year B2B warrenty, my intermediate shaft is apparenty worn out but they won't fix it and they were the one to point out it is worn out last spring, very frustrating and now it's $307.00 for the new part HHmmmm

Is there a need to reset a code or anything?

The part numbers were different on my new motor, but the dealer said it was updated or superceded.

Here are pics of the difference, its pretty much just the conical whatever it is at the base of the shaft, and the part numbers which I called to verify was correct with my vin#.

The part number for the one I just bought is 19257875, not the 2099????? number the OP shows in his pics.

The pic looks like the sizes are different, but in reality they are the same and I did install the O-ring and lube the shaft up good before I put it in.

As I was typing I realized that conical piece may still be on the car, but the new one slid right in like butter so I dont know.

Any Ideas would be awesome,
thanks
part number change....

This was an excellent post. Followed it step by step to replace the steering motor on my 2006 HHR LT. With these instructions made the job a snap. Thank you for taking the time to provide this information.

I just replaced the power steering motor myself.. super easy. Took the old motor apart and found that the motor brushes are worn.. brushes that probably cost few bucks to replace. Anyone has any leads to where I can get hold of these brushes..?
