New member from upstate new york. My name is joe. I joined this forum after doing quite the research on purchasing my first hhr. Well, potentially purchasing my first hhr. I guess im looking for a bit of advice. The hhr is a 2006 1lt. The asking price is $6500. Now after taking it to my mechanics garage literally an hour ago, we found out quite a bit about it. It has a transmission line leak, timing chain oil leak, the rear bumper support is rusted pretty bad. It was hit in the driver rear quarter panel. The dealer says it was a light hit directly at the tail lights. And the paint does not match. The bumpers seem to have been repainted, but lack a clear coat. The rear hatch glass is scratched, assuming from a worn down rear wiper blade. There is some rust on the bottom of all 4 doors. Some rust on the rear hatch and seems as if it had been in a major hailstorm. As for the interior, theres a small cut in the rear leather seat. Almost like a screwdriver went through it. Driving impelressin was what was expected. Front rotors have the typical pulsating. Rear drums seems to have been recently replaced and the shoes havent embedded into the drums.I don't think that, and I hope it doesnt offend anyone, that the hhr is worth $6500. Can anyone help me out here before I give them my offer? If it makes any difference, the dealer is a buy here pay here dealership local to me.

me personally, i would pass..this car sounds like a disaster. You can find other HHRs in that same price range that arent rusting or parts of the car being repainted and what not..id look for another one

Welcome from the other end of the 90....
And yea, there are HHR 's in a lot better shape than that one...if it takes a few weeks, it will be worth finding one without all those problems...
Good luck with your purchase!

Thanks for the quick replies. I was almost considering giving them an insanely low offer. In all reality, I have no issues working on the car. I have sank entirely too much money into the car I drive now, plus its old. What do you think its worth?

Its worth $6776 in FAIR condition....I would offer them maybe $4500 with all the work you need to do...plus it was in an accident, the offer is getting lower as I type $3750 maybe...

your going to be spending a lot more money fixing it up instead of enjoying and modding it up nicely...just wait a month or two spring is here and u might come accross something nice since its getting warm out and people like to buy new things :p

Well I wont be modding it. Ive been modding my car (95 grand prix, stock drivetrain, upgraded suspension) and need a good daily driver. It has 100410 miles. I was going to offer 4000 and if they dont take it, ill give up on this one and wait it out for a different one.
