Today at 306,550 KLMs I replaced the timing chain front guide, the OEM style guide from Cloyes wasn’t damaged but the new one from ZZP is much more durable and heavy duty! In my opinion the 2 1/2 hours I spent was well worth it, I only removed the front engine cover, not the valve cover, I did have to remove the serpentine belt and tensioner, the harmonic balancer, the upper engine mount and bracket. I supported the engine with a piece of 2x4 and my trusty HF floor jack while the safety stand held the BlackSwan up for access to the front cover after removing the passenger side front tire. I got to enthusiastic to get this job done, I didn’t take any photos and my voice this morning was raspy so no video either. Do visit the ZZP website to get your hands on one

It did have tool marks, it was tight to get up into place , a little tap from a hammer nudged it into the head, then I used a 6 mm Allen wrench to line up the top hole and install my Melling upper replacement bolt.

Today I replaced the front hubs with 314,500 klms in the odometer, 50,000 klm on the PoweStop cheap hubs. I only paid $50.00 CDN per hub and they lasted since August /2022 so not bad.
the new hubs are Mevotech TXF513206 which are 2 rows of ball bearings and are supposed to be extreme duty , all surfaces are coated to resist corrosion they came with all hard wear only difference is the three flange bolts have 13mm head not 15mm like the factory bolts. So we’re gonna see how these last. I paid $125 CDN each for these so less then OEM or TRW or other hubs I’ve installed in the past. As usual only the driver’s side hub failed but I replaced both as I always have.

Blue- Be interested in your Mevotech TTX hubs hold up down the road.
I used their sway bar Supreme bushings in mine, but too soon to know about longevity as yet..
I would have guessed the Power Stop hubs would have been better..

The PowerStop hubs were a clearance deal $50.00 CDN each from RockAuto, I bought 4 both pairs lasted around 50,000 miles, the last set on the driver’s side started humming at around 30 mph and last week a grinding noise backing into my driveway, so I decided to get the Mevotechs , see if they live up to the hype.
I have installed several brands over the years, some lasted a little longer then others , the potholes in the roads to take Sweetie for her chemotherapy treatments beat the snot out of a couple of sets. Now I’m going for chemotherapy, didn’t want a failure at this time.
