Chicago guy happy w/ his decision!

Hello all, just got my Silver Ice Metallic '09 1LT last night.

I'm feeling the financial crunch and needed to shave some of my monthly costs, so I traded my '05 Jaguar X-Type in for the HHR and saved $80 a month(not to mention gas and insurance). I loved my Jag, but I like eating, too.

I'm impressed as to how much more grunt the 2.4L has over the 2.2. Also, who the hell thought putting the window controls on the floor was a good idea? Beleive it or not, that's the main reason I wanted an 09 over any of the other years :P

But anyway, this site helped me quite a bit and made me quite confident when I signed on the dotted line. Thanks everyone!

Welcome! That's a known complaint about the HHR having the window Switches in the center console, which is why they moved them for 2009.

I'm use to the Window Switches in the center console, Saturn's also had this same set-up. Now its weird to me on the door's.

i've gotten used to them on the console, and it is kind of nice since my wife/navigator can work the windows and i don't have to deal with them. However i guess it wouldn't have been as much of a problem on the door since it would be easier and i wouldn't need the help.... but yeah...slowly got used to them. Main thing for me is the shifter is just in the way a bit to do it easily.

Would have loved an 09, but my Jimmy was dieing, and I preferred the price i got on my 08

Yeah, I could easily see myself plowing into a playground full of children while I'm hunched over working my windows. I didn't like that idea :P Having them in the center wouldn't have been such a big deal if they weren't so low. I'm 6' and that's a long way down for me even w/ the seat all the way down.

As for the color, I think it's the same silver as before, they just changed the name. After having 2 black cars in a row, I welcome the change of not having a color I have to clean every 5 seconds.
