Considering picking up an HHR SS.

So I've recently decided that I need something bigger than my current daily driver, 13 Sonic 1.4t, for occasions when my wife and I decide that we want to take our 3 dogs with us somewhere. After searching around for something that would be big enough but would still get decent gas mileage and be fun to drive. I think I've just about settled on an HHR SS.

After looking around, this seems to be the best price I can find on a reasonable mileage HHR within a reasonable distance. I was in Colorado Springs over the weekend and test drove this one. Still haven't decided whether or not to pull the trigger on it yet, though. Any thoughts or advice are greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,
Albert

Price is right on par in my opinion
Not. Sure what they mean by certified

I would only buy if it was gm certified.
But thats me.
I would really check into see what this 2 year 100k warranty is all about and who it is through.
Other than than that buy it make sure it has not been beet up first of course.
Check to see if it has the gm turbo upgrade
Sticker inside gas door should say premium fuel required instead of recommended if it is installed
Also otjer ways check around on the site.
U will love the ss I love mine but if you live in an area with bad roads stick with a non ss

I have one of each, I love them both. There is no way to make a regular HHR go like a SS will, without mods.

I asked about the warranty when I test drove I and was told that it was for 2 year/100 total miles and included "any parts that are lubricated". When I asked them to expand on what that meant they told me it would include engine, turbo, transmission, transaxle, a/c, and power steering. They said that work could be done at any ASE certed shop with no deductible.

Guess they aren't aware that the power steering has an electric assist motor. No old style belt driven pump with fluid.

Yeah, but if they decide to include it I wouldn't complain. I really thought that my want to buy this car would fade after a few days. That's part of the reason that I wanted to think about it for a little while. But the opposite has happened. Now I just wish I would have gone ahead and bought it while I was in Colorado Springs over the weekend. Looks like I may be calling them within the next coupe days to see if I can negotiate them shipping it to me into the price.

HHR for you ???

I don't know if you've seen this one ...

https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/deleted-threads-41/06-chevy-hhr-w-ss-body-kit-41006/

... but this one is close to what you want. This guy is close to you, low miles, AND it looks like a real cool car. I was in a similar position not long ago. I wasn't specifically looking for an SS though. Too bad you're not in Michigan. Last week's craigslist had an SS for 10.7K.

That's definitely a cool one. Although, the reason I was looking at the SS is because of the performance and "fun to drive" factor. Unless I misread it, it seems that that one has all the SS stuff with the exeption of the SS performance.
