I have had the question asked about my screen name. No I don't need beeno and no I don't work at a gas station.

I work a few clicks before any of you see the product. Before the semi truck picks it up at the tank farm. I work in the pipeline and terminal biz. The big oil companies like exxon/mobil, sunoco, bp, citgo, marathon, husky, valero are all my customers. We are like UPS/FedEx for them. We haul the product from their above ground storage tank farms at the refinery to other storage tanks, sometimes ours and sometimes theirs. We haul this product in our high volume/high pressure underground pipelines. the entire naition is spider webbed with these pipes. We operate at rates from 2000-4000 barrel per hour or 86,000 - 172,000 gallon an hour at pressures from 300-2000 psi in 8"-36" pipelines. I myself am a Resident (think resident like doctor, pro level for my industry) Delivery Person.

I, myself, operate the pipelines, 7 of them, along with 6 stations & junctions. We operate 25/8/366 which basically means we are open and operate more than anybody but the military. We shut down for nothing but maybe the big black out a few years ago. I myself pipe products such as 84/87/91/93 octane gasoline, naphta, NGL, red high sulfer heating oil (rare these days), ULSD, primary supplier of jet fuel to Detroit Metro International Airport, kerosene (same as jet fuel just not as clean), propane, and butane. A few others as well. It's a complex, diverse, and highly regulated industry. About the only job I have found that is more regulated is my bud who is a nuclear power plant operator aka Homer Simpson. LOL.

I have been doing this for 13 years in one job or another at this company. My job roles have changed over the years but this is my current job and been in it full time for 4years. 8years prior to that was in a training and/or relief man job. It takes that long to qualify to this position usually. I am qualified to operate every pipeline station in the state for my company. One of only 3 people to ever obtain that for our company. I am also a safety point person for the state of michigan responsibility which is an increasingly diverse field to be in.

I like my job, but think love would be pushing it. I would like my job more if the company would ever stop changing our responsibilities while tacking on more. The strive for craziness arond here has gotten considerably more in depth over the past couple years.

Sorry so long but that's just the complexity of my job. It's something that most people don't understand nor even exists.
