Greetings and thanks for letting me join!

Hello everybody,
I became an HHR fan when I purchased a new LT back in mid-October of 2011. For such a small vehicle, it sure packs a punch. Plus, having the 2LT option adds a lot of cool toys.

So far I have had blissfully few problems, considering that I average around 30K miles a year between work and play.

I stumbled onto this forum while doing research for a new set of tires. The Firestone's supplied with my wagon have really proven themselves. They're still rolling with 80,000+ miles; but now even a moderate rain shower results in many white-knuckle moments. And winter is soon upon us here in Northeast Ohio...

If anyone has any tire recommendations, I welcome your opinions or suggestions. I know this is the Introductions forum, so I'll post my request in the tire and wheel group soon. Just wanted to say "Hi" and that I look forward to contributing to the community.

Thanks again,

Thomas

aboard Thomas!

Wow, 80k on the OEM Firestones, something of a record. A good majority of us dumped the factory tires long before they reached even half of that mileage.

I know; guess I'm just as surprised as anyone else.

But remember, I only said that they are still rolling...no such thing as ride comfort left in those bad boys. Oh, did I mention the noise?!?!?

Welcome to the site

There are a lot of good options for tires on the hhr. I will refrain from suggesting a tire brand because I work for Goodyear so I'm a bit bias.

The OP probably doesn't want bias ply tires anyway,...

When we bought our '06 HHR a few years ago now the dealer stuck a new set of Primewell tires on it before we picked it up. You may not know it but Firestone sold them and they were very inexpensive tires indeed.

We got around 45,000 miles out of them before we had any problems with them. Then the alloy wheels started giving us fits by causing the tires to go low and even flat.

I finally got the wheels redone but by then the tires were pretty much toast. So, I got a new set of Primewell tires the originals were 225/55/16 the new ones are a bit narrower at 205/55/16.

I wanted the slightly narrower tread face to see if they will cut thorugh the snow a bit better. Everyone including the Old Farmers Almanac is saying its gonna snow like when I was a kid this winter.
