Hello from Central Square NY

Just joined today and have two things to bring to the table.First is to say hello to everyone and the second is a question. My brakes on my 08 HHR SS squeal worse than a pig doing the wild thing if ya catch my drift.I switched from factory pads to ceramics about 2000 miles ago because I thought the factory pads were giving up the ghost. Not so.Only 20,000 on the odometer.Every time I apply the binders, people the next county over can here it.Anybody else having the same problem?Anybody have a fix?

No advice on the brake squeal but I'm sure there will be other members that will chime in with some help

Size: 5.6 KB to the site!!! Do have the Brembo brakes? Some members with the Brembos have mentioned squealing as well. You can do a search for Brembo Brakes Squeal and it should bring up a thread.

Glad you found us! I'm still on the factory pads at 18K with about 1/2 pad to spare, but I do a lot of country driving. Something that annoying would warrant an inspection by a brake prefessional, if all the different brake quiet remedies at your local auto parts store failed.

Welcome. Brake squeal is caused by a high pitched vibration. Check the mounting hardware for looseness. There is a rubberized brake cement that can be applied to the backs of the pads to keep them from vibrating. Also another trick that helps is to file the leading edges of the pad to a 45 degree angle. If those don't work-add radio volume.
