Hello from New England

Hello everyone!

First, let me say that I've never liked the look or feel of the HHR (excuse me while I duck!) and after renting one several years ago I swore that I'd never buy one. Yet, here I am, the proud owner of a 2006 HHR 1LT 2.4L in Sandstone Metallic.

I was looking for a used car to just get me from A to B. I didn't want a car payment, and I didn't want anything fancy. I wanted reliable; something that would last a couple of years. My budget was $5000 and everything that fell into that category was in the 2000-03 range with about 130-150,000 miles on it. That didn't bother me and I was about to pull the trigger on an '02 SUV for $3995 when I spotted the HHR on the same lot. The mileage for an '06 was high (119K) but it was still a solid vehicle with a clean history report, well maintained by one owner, and included a full one year warranty. For $4999 I couldn't pass it up.

I found this site the night after I first test drove it while looking into the HHR's reliability and known service issues. There seems to be a lot of knowledge buried here and I hope to learn more about the vehicle that I will likely learn to appreciate over the coming years. I may not be that active here, but I'll definitely be lurking.

Regards,
Crash (a.k.a. Rich)

to the forum Crash, and congrats on your new ride!

I didn't start out looking at HHR's either(although I knew it would be another Chevy), then I bought my first one, then another, and then another. They're like bunnies!

Feel free to ask questions and make sure to check out the "Search " function in the toolbar at the top of the page.

Ha Ha, i too was reluctant to go with the HHR and decided to as it was just the thing to tow behind the Motorhome. Got mine last week, and decided to keep my Magnum as i just could not part with it, but after 5 days driving the HHR, amd kind of hooked already!
