Question The HHR is the best car I ever bought

I worked for GM for 30 years then retired and I trade cars every 2 or 3 years.

I think I might keep this 2007 HHR or buy a new one. Best car I ever bought!!

Never had a problem till now but the electronic power steering is giving me problems lately.

When you start the car it is fine but the warning light appears while idling and I lose power steering.

Problem is.....it doesn't happen all the time.

Any Suggestions?

I hope to hang out on this board daily and perhaps I can answer some of your questions.

Thanks-
Mark in Florida

I'm beginning to think that the HHR will get a recall for the electric power steering motor just like the Cobalt. I also have a 08 Cobalt and got the recall notice back in April ( 3 months ago) and when I called the dealer a couple days ago, they still don't have the replacement parts and was told to wait until I receive a second notice. I feel like I am getting the run around. Maybe I'll have to wait for a third notice.

Really, I have never had any of my cars in service.

I do trade every two or three years.

I have almost 50,000 on my HHR and all I do is rotate the tires, change oil and change air filters, I am getting 28 miles per gallon.

So, you wouldn't buy another one?, that's sad.

My HHR has 54100kms
rotors were warp at 24000kms and again at 53000kms, at 53000kms I had to replace the pads also.

dlr also replace steering gear, steering column, both front struts, twice, all control arm bushings, both my remotes, one rear hatch gas tube, few trim that the color was getting affected, windshield nosel on pass side, and few other stuff, they are also monitoring a oil leak at the lower crank case.
The car is driven by my wife and stays on asphalt road 95% of the time. And I have babied it like I due all of my cars, so yes I am very disappointed in my HHR. And I still have a clunking noise in the front end that the dealer can't find. And is now giving me a hard time about. So I am not pleased with GM service.

For the other comment posted by someone else. I am not jugging people like my cars. But this experience with this car and GM dealer has left a very sour taste. So I am done with GM after spending so much money on my GM car they could make an effort and help.
