It kept throwing the CHECK engine light, just started this about a week ago. The code was P0011 "Intake Camshaft Position System Performance". It would also trigger the TRACTION CONTROL light (code C0561 - system disabled) and was hard shifting (harsh jerk into drive/reverse and shifted hard). I changed the camshaft timing sensor, had the timing actuators checked (ohm readings within spec), and changed the oil. The next item on the list is the camshaft timing gear. So rather than invest close to $1000 and not be sure that would solve the problem, I decided to trade for a low mileage 2011. My 2006 had 66K on the odometer. Next year this time it would have close to 100K and I thought it would be difficult to find a low mileage 2011 HHR, so I traded. Right or wrong, it is gone and I have the remaining factory bumper to bumper warranty and powertrain warranty on my 2011.
