Just bought a 2007 1LT HHR

I just bought my wife an HHR and it's def. a cool looking truck, car..... what do you guys classify it anyway? FRM as in Factory Retro Modern... anyway, it's nice, but dog slow! The auto trans and weight im sure doesnt help. I see some of you have done the usual intake and exhaust mods, some even tuned them for a total of 25hp? Is that it? I know the ecotec is a pretty optimized breather from the get go, but besides a thousand dollar turbo kit or nitrous (which I would not run on my wifes vehicle, is there anything else? Is there a cam available? A better cam, with a nice intake, header, 3" cat and cat back with a tune should net a 40hp increase. Which I believe would make the HP somewhere around 180hp. I also am aware of a supercharger kit that is made for it, how much do those run? I would like to do intake and exhaust with an intercooled 6psi maybe more. It needs to be reliable #1, 2 I know the brakes have been a problem for some, as well as steering and suspension. Any others?
I know this is a long winded post, but I build professionally in Austin, TX and am used to the usual performance V8 apps. I have a Z28 for performance and I dont care about modding this thing to race, I would just like for her to have more power, as she just sold her gt40p factory 5 liter Mountaineer.
I appreciate your time with this, sorry for the newb questions.
