New here, almost ready to buy an HHR

Hello, everyone!

I've been lurking here for a few weeks now. I don't have an HHR yet, but hopefully in the next few weeks I will. I've been watching the local dealer inventories since November to get a feel for the market.

What I want is an 2009+ black on ebony LT 2.4L. Why 2009+? Because having had loaner cars with power window controls in the center console, I know it's a crime against humanity.

I plan to do a one bar grill a la GTOMIKE. A high stop light overlay will probably happen before that. Then later black DEPO headlights, and maybe a slight lowering of the front end.

One of the dealers has one that's 95% what I want: 2010 black on cashmere 2LT. I went down to look at it earlier. This one was a rental car, and had one owner after that.

I probably annoyed the salesman a lot for the 10 minutes I sat writing down the RPO codes. Here's the list (I haven't looked for the unknown ones yet, I could have written them down wrong):

It's been sitting on their lot since the beginning of August, and they put it on sale today for $14,700. The salesman said they could go as low as 13,900 on it. But, I want to put 10k down, and I'm not quite there yet. Sometime in the last couple weeks they sold the other HHR they had, a 2010 silver LS.

For 23k miles, it seems to have reasonable wear. There are some paint scratches here and there and some stains on the front seat backs. My real concern is that the front passenger door and the fender don't line up at the bottom. I looked closer at that corner; the GM badge on the door is slightly crooked, there's a paint run above the bumper pad, and the lower grille insert is missing.

I maybe should have taken pictures. What do you guys think?

I've seen the Carfax, no accidents on it. Not that every accident is reported or goes through insurance, though.

My car has a couple flaws in the paint, I certainly would have asked them to fix, but I guess the first owner didn't see them. Flaws might be by GM ??

Hey, Welcome to the forum,...Dracos, from Texas

The paint run is an inch and a half long... if it's from the factory, it's the biggest one I've ever seen.

if it feels right during the test drive, get them to fix the paint and door gap issue , and pay the asking price, or offer what your think will get you the HHR and fix the paint run yourself!! I looked for 3 years for my 2007 LT just had to have the dark blue , but couldn't find any with reasonable mileage and clean interior, I was just passing a GM dealer out of town one day and there she was , bam I bought it and have had great luck so far!! instant Karma is going to get you!!

I'm trying to be careful and not let my emotions take over. Lots of shady things happen with cars in El Paso.
