Thanks for the warm welcome guys..I do enjoy my "used" HHR the same as a brand spanking new one, especially with the savings in excess of $3,000...stickered at $25,345"out the door" for $16,800 and it still had all the plastic on the carpet and floor mats...in days past I would've preferred the 5 speed manual trans but with shoulder problems the auto will do just fine.
I've noticed several complaints about the HHR in regard to acceleration performance ...goes to show that everything is about perspective I guess cause' I have no complaints ...had a 98' Ranger p/u w/ a 2.5 & manual trans a few years ago..good little truck but passing anybody on a 2 lane was akin to russian roulette...put 4:56's in it just to have a little power...makes my little HHR feel like a nitro burning funny car!!!...gotta love it man.......

HHR is one car with a significant performance increase in the manual versus the automatic. There is less difference in 0-60 times between a 2LT with a manual and an SS with an automatic, than between an SS with an automatic versus the manual. I would avoid the 2.2 with the auto, as that combination is the slowest possible one. 2.4 with auto is a reasonable compromise if you really dislike shifting any more, and you want a new, or in your case near-new, car since SS is not offered any more.

Welcome !!! sweet deal man ! congrats ...have to talk to you about the tow hitch and what way you went with that cause its one of the things we want to do ...meantime welcome man and look forward to hearing from you .

Once again, I'm very impressed with this site and the very warm welcome I have recieved from so many members.
I will post pics of my new ride in the next few days....
In reply to the posted interest in my trailer hitch addition...after researching online best deal I found was a Draw Tite class 1 hitch for $145.95 and a t-one wire harness kit for $24.95 from etrailer.com...free shipping as purchase exceeded $150.00...(ball mount and ball was not included, I already had these anyway)...the total install was pretty easy and took about 2 hours (I'm very particular and take my time)..
A few installation tips are:
>once the exhaust is dropped, raise the rear of the car on the drivers side 2 or 3 inches which will allow you to get the hitch up and over the muffler so it can mounted to the "frame".
>apply some paint to any holes that you drill out or enlarge as to prevent future "frame" corrosion.
>once you pull the mounting bolts down thru the frame, wrap a thin piece of wire around each bolt, up close to the frame...this will prevent the bolts from "dissappearing" back up in to the frame while you get the hitch lined up and get the washers and nuts started on to the mounting bolts...pull these retaining wires off before tightening the hitch mounting bolts.
"Walla"... hitch install complete...wire harness install very easy...directions were very clear.
