Hello all,

Well, we're proud new owners of an awesome 2008 HHR SS, all black in and out.

We bought this car to exclusively to use as our tow behind on our coach. I'm a performance vehicle guy through and through.......always have been, always will be. The HHR SS is a home run for towing compatibility, size, weight and performance. Our coach is 45’ and another 15’ for the HHR gets us to a respectable 60’……just shy of the legal limit 65’ /20m) .

Here's the question; has anyone on the forum had any experience with setting up their HHR as an RV tow vehicle. Any comments, positive or negative will be greatly appreciated.....Malcolm

About the Alberta question..........we have lived in Fort McMurray for the last 26 years, moved here from St Albert, bedroom community to Edmonton.

Retiring this year and will relocate back to Edmonton and spend the winters snowbirding with our coach, HHR and Harley Ultra Classic .

The whole rig combination is variations of black, silver and gold accents. When I figure out how to add pictures, I'll share what we have.

We tow our 2007 HHR behind our motorhome, and have since the HHR was new. I use Blue Ox tow gear, and a US Gear braking system, neither of which I have had any problems with in almost six years of towing. The HHR is IMO an ideal tow car. We have a 40 foot pusher which does not even notice the HHR, no performance or mileage difference.

Welcome to the site we tow our 07 hhr 4500 miles last summer with no problem what so ever. I also used the blue ox base plate I installed myself. We did not use a braking system last year but now have a brake buddy to use this year even though I did notice any problem with braking.(just safer) We tow it with a 36 foot gas pusher.

The HHR is a great toad. We have never had any issues with ours towing, and over the almost six years we have been towing it, have put quite a few towed miles on it. Word to the wise IE: brakes, there are some states you do not want to be caught towing with no braking system. Oregon is one, they have been known to require that you disconnect and have someone drive the car while in Oregon, if there is no braking system. With our 40 foot pusher, I can certainly stop it and the car with the coach brakes, but if you really have to stab the brakes, you need brakes on the car to keep it from fishtailing, or worse, jumping up the towbar. You are correct it is just safer to have functional brakes on the car.
