Panel or Wagon or ?

Howdy from north central Texas. Ive been browsing the posts here for a couple months and decided its time to join. I have been looking for a replacement for the 93 4 dr Geo Metro I'v been using to run errands in and as a grocery getter for the past 12 or so years. I started out looking at the PT Cruisers but their reliability has steered me over to the HHR's. I really like the HHR panels but I'm having a very hard time finding a 2010-2011 with under 70k miles in a lighter color. So I have found a possible candidate for my needs not far from me but there one issue with it I cannot resolve. Its not a regular wagon or a Panel seems like something in between the two.

I have looked a hundreds of ads for HHR's and not one other that has this combo between panel/wagon body style. The car fax shows its a one owner sold by a local Chevy dealer. Perfect maintenance records, no accidents or any significant issues at all. There ask on this 2010 LT is $9k which seems really good considering no nogations have taken place yet. I would love to find out if this is some kind of rare COPO car or something , Thanks for having me as a member

It's got option AA5 which is the half panel! Kinda like a mullet, business up front and party in the back! These are rare to find, but are legitimate Chevy HHRS not a panel with windowed doors and a back seat bolted in!

Thanks for clarifying what this is. I guess I could always take the back seats out and get the floor cargo piece that the panels use and have a panel on the inside which I really like And keep my eyes out for a wrecked panel and get the passenger doors of to make it a real panel? I guess rare options don't always mean higher resale value in a used vehicle. I guess I could take the value of a panel and wagon and split the difference between the two to come up with a legitimate value for this vehicle? On the other hand just keep it stock like some kind of rare "hermaphrodite". Wow, maybe it would do well at the local car shows ???

Welcome to the site.

Just my opinion, but please don't take that rare AA5 optioned HHR and turn it into a plain old panel.
There are many, many real HHR panels out there to find. AA5's are really rare and hard to come by.
If you do decide to buy it and transform it, at least save the old parts so it can be converted back.

Welcome to the site.

I like the half panels and I would have one if I came across the right deal.

As a side note. If you were to put the cargo box out of a panel in that car then you would have to at least remove the inside door panels.

The cargo box is wider that the seat and the arm rests will hit the cargo box.

In my years of owning my 2 HHR Panels I have been to dozens of wrecking yards getting parts. I have never seen a wrecked panel. Of course they exist but they are really rare. I think you should stay with that AA5 or keep looking for a panel. There are a fair number of them in white available here in SoCal on Craigslist but most were delivery trucks and are pretty high mileage. The panel I'm using to build the V8 had 258,000 miles on it.

Welcome to the forum, you will find all the info you will ever need on HHRs.

Thanks to everyone for your input on my thoughts about the AA5 optioned HHR. Now seeing that its a rare option, I agree with all the opinions it would be unwise to change it from a AA5 into a panel vehicle. The more I look at it the more I am liking the looks of the AA5 option the way it is. I intend to visit the dealership today or tomorrow and see if I cant put together a deal on this one!
