Picked mine up on Thursday

Hey HHR fans!

I just picked up my 2008 HHR Super Sport on Thursday. Unfortunately the first 3 hours of my life with it were spend driving through a slushy snow storm. Needless to say, I'm pretty sure I haven't even gotten the boost gage to hit positive numbers yet...

I live in snowy Fargo, North Dakota (yes people actually live here.. no it's nothing like the damn movie...). I had been looking for a 2.4L 2LT with the 5 speed for a few months but apparently there ins't very many of those out there. I'm glad I waited because I got a fantastic deal on my SS.

I love it, by the way! I play the drums and used the HHR today to haul my drums to a gig. Very convenient! Much more so than my 1994 Toyota Tercel 2 door.

The only complaint I have regarding the HHR is the traction control is very limiting on snow. Maybe it's just because I actually know how to drive on snow, but it seems like the traction control would almost always like to have the car sitting still. In Fargo, wheelspin will happen... I almost always have the traction control off, or I probably wouldn't be able to drive the car up here. I'm thinking snow tires would probably be a big help too. I'll look into that next year.

Anyway, just thought I'd make a little intro post here. I've been reading this forum for a few weeks in preparation of getting my HHR. It's a very informative forum. I came here from http://board.tercelonline.com where I am an administrator. Yes, there really is an active board devoted to the Toyota Tercel. I'm still struggling with the idea of either selling mine or parting it out... it feels like I'm killing a pet or something.

I'm sure after 12 years with my HHR I'll feel the same way about IT.

Welcome Russ to this site. I'm with you on the Traction Control, living here in Oshawa Ontario Canada where winters can be dreadful. Not bad this year, we have hardly any snow in our region. Something else I have noticed with Traction 'on'. On dry roads there is a slight hesitation almost like an engine mis-fire, very slight but it is there and noticeable to a sensitive driver. I have a Buick and it does the same. Checked it out with friends and they all concur. It becomes more pronounced on a winding or twisty road if you can find one around here. My wife has often said "is this thing mis-firing".
