Possibly a future HHR owner

Hello all,

I'm in the market for a daily driver. Currently my DD is a 2000 Camaro Z28, but she's getting a heart transplant soon 383 LSX build . Also the roads plus my stiff suspension and wide tires gives me horrible tire tracking here. Sometimes scary, not sure I want to deal with that on a daily basis anymore. I've been looking at the HHR and Magnum mainly. Something that can get me to work on a daily basis, fits the wife and kids, and has some cargo room for moving stuff. I'm leaning toward a HHR because its got good gas mileage...but I hate the front facia, and not a fan of the rear drum breaks either. I'd love to hear what you HHR owners have got to say about it though. I'd perfer something AWD, but I don't even think chevy offers anything AWD thats not a suv or truck.

Here's a link to my camaro's FQuick page

Looking forward to some good info to help me make my decision.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum... What about an SS? Different facia and 4 wheel disc.

Welcome- I'd suggest you go test drive an HHR, & see if it fits your needs.

You seem to be clear on what you hate so far..

Welcome. HHR is great for our family. Rear drums are fine as long as they are adjusted properly.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

to the forum TFord!

As sleeper suggested, go find an HHR or two and drive them, if you think you're going to like having one...find the best one you can within your budget and go for it.

I would find an 1LT/2LT and test drive it, then try out an SS edition and see what you think. Personally, I wish my LT was an SS just for the 4 disc brakes, and the better power to the wheels.

I did think about going with the SS, but around here they're in the 20K range. I just bought the wife a Traverse and don't really want to tack on another loan payment. I'm finding HHRs with 40-60K miles for 7K-10K. This one caught my eye. I have briefly driven one, the ride is very nice compaired to my Camaro. Its supprisingly agile, not much I didn't like performance wise considering what it is.

I'm really enjoying my 08 2LT Panel.. Couple simple suspension mods & it hugs twisties almost like on rails.

The HHR is loosely styled after the 1947-'53 Suburban & Panel Tk..

Welcome to the site, TFord. Dont drive a SS, I'm glad to hear the value is going up, I didn't pay that much 1.5 years ago.
