$5 per gallon isn't the end of the world... and there is nothing your government can do about it unless they bring in price-fixing legislation.

The only "wealth redistribution" that has been happening is from the middle class's pockets into the richest pockets. Time for a little more "socialism" and a little less "free markets".

People think socialism is the worst thing in the world, when really it may be the way to save ourselves....

no, guys ..
Socialism - a serious evil, so I know something.
in socialist Russia petrol cost 0.02 rubles per liter (0.11 dollars per gallon)! Sounds tempting?
Do not flatter yourself! You can not buy gasoline at a gas station. You must buy the coupons and redeem them for gasoline. A coupons is not enough at all. "Not enough"- not the right word. coupons are so few that they do not possibly buy. They searched throughout the city, waiting in the queue many hours, speculators. And it's not all. Gasoline disgusting quality. Currently crap - the killer engine.
That's what socialism is.
The most disgusting thing - under socialism, the price is greater than under capitalism.
The concept of "state prices". The official price is very low. The official price is valid throughout the country. But it exists virtually. Realistically it can not be applied. Because there is no product in the store. There is not and will not be tomorrow, the day after tomorrow and never. All the goods in the market from speculators. Five, ten, a hundred! "state prices"!
Example - Lada 2105:
State prices - 8,571 dollars for a new car, waiting for permission to purchase 3 - 9 years.
The price of black market - 17,143 dollars for a three-year car, the new is not even on the black market.

Russia is a basket-case. A corrupt society still trying to shed the long dark decades of communist rule.

NO ONE is holding up Russia as a model society. In fact, it is a model of exactly what NOT to do....

So, what Socialist society would you use as a model.

An old joke about the socialist system geg, I hope you don't take offense.

A young man goes to the dealer armed with money and permission to buy a car. The official takes his money and the young man asks when he can expect delivery. The official answers "your car will be delivered in five years". The young man asks whether it will be in the morning or afternoon. The official then replies "why do you need such information comrade?". The young man replies "well the plumber is coming in the afternoon".

843de - no hard feelings. I grew up with these jokes and I remember times when for them jailed.

This should be interesting.

I usually don't post in these threads with these topics. But....

My thoughts are this:

I was born an individual human being. By being born I have one natural right and that is to live and to preserve my life. My birth does not give me the right to anyone else's money nor does it give anyone else the right to my money.

Paying a fair amount of taxes is what all citizens should be willing to do if they want to continue a lifestyle without anarchy. But if the government trys to redistribute my money beyond the fair taxes I pay, then there will be hell to pay, as was seen in the last elections. And if this new group, getting ready to go to Washington, doesn't get it right, they will be sent home too.

What I have, I earned. If people want more they need to figure out how to earn more. There will always be the rich, the middle class and the poor. People need to use the brains they were given at birth, and figure out how to move up the ladder, without taking it from others.

I am so happy to be born and live in the USA. The greatest Republic bar none. I can't think of any socialist country I would rather be living in.

FYI: My background is a highschool diploma (No College). Began my dealership career as a lot porter making $2.35 per hour in 1975. Obviously my wages are quite different now. All anyone has to do is to want something bad enough, that you are willing to work hard for it.
