3 Days Of Torture

That's what the holidays are for, time with family. It really helps if you get along with them.
We have traveled to Naples almost every year since returning from Iceland. My sister has a beautiful, enormous home down there. Visiting them is like going to a resort. My other sister lives down the street and my dad used to travel down there for the winter. It makes for a great holiday!

I lucked out too, in that even though my in-laws can be a bit wacky sometimes, I get along with them and they with me, enough that I can influence them to buy an HHR for themselves. :)
Last time I saw them we went on a road trip to Gettysburg, in October. Had a grand time.

Yup - gotta chime in on this one. Actually, my in-laws are the best!!! It's my own parents who get on my nerves - my mom's 60 going on 80, and my dad's lost his hearing in one ear, which means every time you have a conversation with him, he just sits and nods, pretending to hear AND agree with everything you're saying. I swear, my conversations with my parents (on the phone or face-to-face) now consist of: what hurts, what they can't eat anymore, what the doctors said at their last visits, and then they compound it with privately complaining about each other!
As for my in-laws, they're awesome - they offer to babysit the two youngins quite often, and they are very considerate. It's great that my in-laws live in town and my parents are back in Texas! I love'em, but geez - one visit a year is enough!

My mother-in-law is dead now, but she was great. I was treated just like one of her children. Our problem is with my parents and her sister. We have to go to both places on Thanksgiving, and it's a contest to see who gets us first. Every year, the times creep back. Before long, we will have eaten two Thanksgiving dinners by 8:00 AM. We try showing up late, and anything else you can think of, but it doesn't help. I threaten every year to take a trip at Thanksgiving; one of these years, it's going to happen.
