The 70's compared to the 2000's, the cars are now closer in speed than they were in Cale's day.
I'm not taking anything away from the 3 peat that Cale did, but competition today is closer.
JJ won the pole at Phoenix and 34 cars behind him were less than 5 seconds slower.
In Cale's day not many cars were even on the lead lap when he finished the race. Now we usually have 15 cars on the lead lap.
So JJ's 3-peat is special he did it in 2006 with the old down force car and 2007 a mix of the old car and the COT car, and 2008 only the COT car. Cale had the same style car all 3 yrs granted with no power steering.
JJ is one of the best today.
We have to wait to see how he ranks on all-time lists.

He was on my team also. I like him a lot. Actually my team was Jimmie Johnson, Clint Bowyer and Jamie McMurray.
