Aliens, probably not!
The inexplicable lights are usually easier to explain than you'd think. I've seen military tests of rockets, flairs and all types of "devices" in the west desert of Utah new the proving grounds.
Of more note is the spiral pattern. That is much to consistent to be explained by any man-made device I'm aware of. However the combination of the explicable possibilities with the phenomena of ice crystals seems a good candidate.
I also find the still photos when compared to the video footage as being suspect. I'm not a videographer, but I do a lot of still photography. The quality of the low light stills, especially when unplanned, is of suspiciously high quality.
Bear in mind, I'm not averse to aliens or acts of god, but as Occam suggests, the easiest explanation is usually the best.

I've seen the northern lights every nite for 3 months in norway (USMC) And i can say with out a doubt ,Thats not the norther lights.
I think it's the plasma ray that knocked everyone out in the tv show. Flash forward.
