Apocalypse Now
Who else thinks Apocalypse Now is one of the greatest films ever made? It truly has some of the best dialog, acting, direction, cinematography, and the score is perfect. I mean a lot of Francis Ford Coppola's films are great but Apocalypse Now takes the cake. I decided to watch the original tonight and Apocalypse Now Redux tomorrow.

Saving Pvt Ryan (Tom Hanks), The Patriot (Mel Gibson), Gladiator (Russel Crowe), Braveheart (Gibson again)... Apocalypse Now ranks up there with these, for me anyhow. Lots of others but I can't think right now.

Hi Cap. Now you know I own and watch a LOT of films, so it may come as a surprise that I never really warmed up to the film. Nice moments like whan the Doors music is playing and the napalm is erupting. Lordy that's some fine film making.
Some great dialog too, but I usually go Elmer Fudd near the end and croak " The Howwor, The Howwor"
I dunno, a lot of over the top acting kinda brought me out of the movie and into the theater if you know what I mean.
Cool film though, I'm gonna have to watch it again now that you bring it up. Honestly I have only seen it in its entirety once, so it is time Seen many parts of it though at friend's houses.
"In the day" I preferred Deer Hunter, but that could use a rewatch as well. Then I could finish up with Coming Home with Bruce Dern,. A trilogy of Terror as it were, "Oh the Howwor................"

It's up there for sure. Very well done, very beutiful shots, well put together, a good 'package'.
But I also think of a few others, Casablanca, Harvey, Always, and I saw someone else mention Saving Private Ryan. All very powerfull for their own reasons.
