It would be a crime for any company not to give raises this year. Even though the price of gas has gone down, most retail prices have not. I would have been thrilled to get that jacket mentioned compared to some of the bonuses I've received in the past.

My employer is Uncle Sam. We are guaranteed a raise of 1% less than the military gets. At least it's something every year!

thats the sad thing about everything else not dropping in prices.....because if gas stays under 2 bucks for a while then spikes again, they will just use that as an excuse again to raise the prices even more i am sure

I have been working for the same small auto repair shop for in March will be 18 years. This year has been one of the slowest years we have had since we opened. I have been doing auto repair for 22 years. Some days I wish I wasnt but I am very happy to have a job. You hear about all these people loosing their jobs and it makes me glad I do what I do.

I would think the small repair shops would be doing well since the dealer rates are so high and folks are keeping their cars longer. The small shops can be half what the dealers charge.

I got a 3.5% raise about 3 months ago, then about a month ago I got another 4.9% raise.

To top that off I got a Christmas bonus of close to a weeks pay. So I can't complain to much.
