True that!! I watched the show, and yes, he could come off as an ass...that is TV! I had the pleasure of meeting him at his shop with a few other members of the So Cal HHR group. The man shook every hand, and was as nice as you can imagine. The man has passed, no need to drag him down, RIP Boyd! Todd (Uma)

Besides raising more money for charity than you've ever seen, opening his shop to the Make-A-Wish foundation, and showing many new kustomizers the ropes, yeah, I guess he didn't do too much.
Television is television and work is work. I've worked with a lot worse bosses than he was ever portrayed and I probably will again. I tell you, if I were running my own business and my employees were goofing around on my dime and time with my product, I'd be hella worse than Boyd Coddington ever was with his crew. Call him what you will, but he didn't take crap from anyone and would throw it right back if you laid it out on his desk.
My favorite episode was when Duane asked that one new employee to fix something and he responded, "well, you know what they say about if you want something done right?" Duane went to Boyd, Boyd fired the guy on the spot. You can't take that kind of disrespect from employees in your own business--ever.

Boyd Coddington was simply a hot rod genius...
A custom culture marvel... His name will go down in history as many other before him like Ed "Big Daddy" Roth. He may be gone but his style and techniques will be passed along to others in the customizing world.

Boyd did a lot for the Hot Rod world. Others say he came on as an ass on his show, but then when you have time and money in the works on a project, you have to tell your employees what to do, or hit the rode. Think about it, if it was your business, its your business on the line, along with your name.
I will miss his designs, his cars, and show.
