There was five of us kids and so we got whatever what the cheapest bulk cereal Mom & Dad could find. So that would be things like Puffed Rice, Rice Krispies, Corn Flakes and Oatmeal or Cream of Wheat.
Cream of Wheat was my favorite but we all liked playing games with the oatmeal. We made mounds of it on our plates and push it down in the middle for the milk. The object of the game was to see how much you could eat from the outside or the inside of the mound before the milk broke through...lol.
As an adult I still like Oatmeal, Cream of Wheat and Red River type hot cereals. I'm a big fan of the "Healthy types" of cereal. I don't add surgars and I don't like the heavy sugar types like "Fruit Loops" and "Count Chocula". Those are hubbies staples...lol.
As for Puffed Rice (or wheat) and Rice Krisies I only use them for baking these days and am a big fan of squares made from either. I have been known to mix it up when I make my squares adding some of hubbies sugary cerals to the puffed stuff along with nuts, raisins, and M & M. My running buddies love these after a race.
