ok question to ChevyMGR and the Customer service reps on here....we're in canada and GM is having a 0% financing on up to 84 months...we wanted to order from the factory since we cannot find one near by that has the options we want and we are being told if we order from factory the 0% financing no longer applies...wtf? why? this is such bs, so GM is willing to lose a sale over this, and it doesnt say in the fine print of the ad since I actually read it when I got home after being told about this....

they can "date-stamp" a purchase for us to not loose this deal and find it somewhere accross Canada then ship it over...but if we want to order from factory which it would be date-stamped TODAY somehow that doesnt apply...its the same f@$%ing process! and they said if they find one near by they would ...wait for it...DRIVE it over..not even throw it on a truck and bring it over...so were going to get some random person drive our brand new car from wherever to the dealership here..so putting miles on it, possibility of getting damaged from rock chips etc...so we will be paying full price for a "showroom" model that will be driven by some guy 400miles or more...geez GM common!

When these type of deals are generated, they are usually by the manufacturer in an effort TO REDUCED EXISTING DEALER INVENTORIES. This allows dealers to continue to order new vehicles and keep workers in the respective factories at full production.

Nothing usual about it and makes perfect sense if you really think about it.

yes i get that part but nobody around us has this car with the options we want...so why not make an exception to that? or if you dont want us to order from factory then properly ship the vehicle over to us..not drive it!! thats absurd! so what happens if there are rock chips on the windshield or hood...just going to dab them with touch up paint and hand over the keys? i dont think so, if im paying you good money i want it properly done...like they say vehicles are of the most biggest purchases you make. So much for customer service..since GM was "revived" they arent the same.
Going to to fight for them to ship it over at no cost if we have to stay internal and not go through factory then

So you think you are someone special and GM should make an exception for one person. Where does it stop........the next person, the one after that, after that.......etc. etc.

I would assume the special financing has a final date.......must take delivery by ....? (probably also states, ".....from dealer inventory...."). Can you order a vehicle to your spec's and take delivery before that date. Generally, it's a 6-10 week order to delivery time.

so far we have only found ONE car that has the options etc we want...and its about 500-600 miles away..thats ok, go ahead and ship it over...and nope! they will DRIVE it over thats what blows my mind. Again we are paying full price that will be "used" by the time it comes to us which doesnt make sense to me...if they cover the shipping costs to ship by train ot truck thats fine but they expect us to pay for that which again blows my mind.
So what happens if they cant find the one with the options we want, they expect us to go to a lower model or something? so the customer has to suffer and get something they dont want?

You know that you are already going to be paying the shipping cost to the "original" dealer's lot, right? That's usually around $500. Dealers don't pay for shipping, the buyer does.

no i understand that. Th freight, air tax, tire tax whatever is included in the fees ...but they want me to pay additional shipping costs to get a car from another dealership - that I dont agree with

OK, here's a suggestion for you.......

Is the dealer doing a vehicle trade.....he is providing a vehicle to the dealer who has the vehicle you want? If so, offer to drive car #1 to location #2 and pick up your (intended) vehicle and drive it back.

I have done this on 2 different occasions but I have done business with My dealer for about 25 years....so I MIGHT be more trustworthy. One trip was 270 miles one way....the other was about 125 one way.

On each of these situations there was a one way charge (supposedly for gas and driver) of about $200 IIRC. The extra fee was deleted because of my services.

Last resort....offer to split the cost of a car hauler.

Also...you know, if you know the dealer who has the car, make a telephonic deal with him and get it yourself. Sounds like a great 2-3 day trip.

I just looked up dealer cost on a Sonic and it is not much from the MSRP (I would say minimal, in the grand scope of things). I'm sure the prices in CAN. are computed at the same percentages. So, even if you are paying, "full price", he is not making a lot of money. Thus, the extra charge.

A vehicle that is special ordered or built, is just that. It is a single order that the dealer does not get a price cut from the factory as he does when making a multi car order.
My last 2 new vehicle purchases were both special order builds. My Dodge truck and the HHR SS. Got a good price cut on the Dodge but the SS not as much. Same story with the SS on the 0%. It was available from GM at the time, but not for me because of the special order.
It's not BS, it's just business.
