Chevy SSR.

I'm considering getting one of these to replace my Astro to be used as the tow vehicle for my small Bigfoot 17.5ft (+-4000LBS) travel trailer. Anyone here owns a SSR? Did you tow a trailer with yours?

Honestly, I know nothing about SSR's, so is there anything I should know about this truck, before buying?

Thanks.

Yea, they way close to 5000 lbs, have only about 300 HP and are rated for 2500 lbs towing. Not sure it's a great vehicle for what you want to do with it. By 2006 they had almost 400 hp but still the low towing capacity.

Not to mention that they leaked and the cost is insane for a used vehicle.

Cost is quite high, yes. And I thought a truck with a Corvette engine, could easily pull my small travel trailer...

I guess I was wrong.

Buy a Kodiak, they said....

HP isn't everything in towing.

I know... but a what's missing in a 5000lbs vehicle, so it can't tow a small travel trailer?

It's better to know the facts about a vehicle, BEFORE purchase, than AFTER purchase... I'll buy a F-150 then....

Just kidding.

It would be a nice match for your HHR! Join an SSR forum & do some research...it's got a full frame under it, I'll bet some do heavier towing with it than it's rated for...we do with our HHRs too!
