Actually I think the article is a bunch of horse do-do.
That's SUPPOSED to be the commuter cost per day for traveling to work....considering the cost of fuel, time in the car, congestion (maybe even the Starbucks coffee), etc.
But I think the analysis is really embellished and subjective. For example and even though it's averaged across the board for a specific area, how can one assess a cost to travel time. If my neighbor and I work at the same company, leave at the same time but travel different routes (one scenic and one direct) how would you assess the contentment either would get traveling their respective routes (one "smells the flowers"...the other the performance of his/her vehicle).
Bunk in my opinion. Kind of like the cost per annum that AAA assess to specific vehicle. I have NEVER even approached the cost they determined for any of my specific vehicles. My maintenance, fuel, insurance DEPRECIATION is always much less.
