I just saw it on the news too. My take on it..................the novelty of deep snow is wearing off so those crazy Coloradans had to come up with a new schtick. (I can't wait to hear Deb's opinion on this )

I saw that on the news here today. Apparently it was part of some space junk from a Russian rocket booster. HERE is more information from one of our local news channels.

You're a funny guy Firewatcher. We've been in the news alot lately. Hopefully all the crazy stuff happening here will die down soon.

I don't see that happening any time soon due to the death of Darrent Williams. They are making some progress in the investigation and hopefully an arrest will be made some time soon. It is my understanding that there will be a moment of silence during each of the playoff games this weekend in his honor.

My first guess would have been the annual Quadrantid meteor shower, which peaks between Wednesday (1/3/07) and Friday (1/5/07). I'm a (VERY) amateur astronomer and have been looking out for this shower, as it is supposed to give some great views on clear nights, especially in the Southwestern states.

Well it turns out it was a Russian rocket breaking up in the atmosphere.
