I honestly prefer to hear "Happy Holidays" because I don't subscribe to any of the established subsets of Christianity. Commercialism has done a really good job of taking the Christ out of Christmas... so let's just call it X-mas from now on... or Giftmas, which is really more appropriate.

Though "Christmas" isn't a traditionally Christian holiday in the first place... go study your history, the pagan celebration of Yule or the Winter Solstice was on or around December 25th for many centuries before the Christians decided to overwrite it with Christmas.

X2 I agree, and the day most go to church (SUN-DAY) was a pagan day of worship (the sun) before christianity.

If you don't like the word Christmas then don't celibate it... Say happy new year or whatever your religion or belief is. But to just say happy holidays is so general its like going to a pizza shop and saying I'll have a pizza. They'll just look at you weird. They need more info. If you are not ashamed of your beliefs then be comfortable enough to state them. I don't care what you believe but if you truly believe it be ok to admit it or you have more earthly problems than wondering what/who you will meet when you die. When I hear happy holidays that to me represents the time from Thanksgiving to New Years. I would only say that to someone in parting that I know I might not have the chance to see them again before those events take place. By definition of the word it means more than one and with Christmas and NY being so close together they might as well be one. Just my thoughts that and a buck will get a burger at Micky D's
